My Portfolio!

2024
Project Portfolio

Home Page

I used to have a video as the background for this, but I switched to an image for clarity. If you see a different image now, it's probably because I'm quite indecisive about how the Home Page should look, haha!

Portfolio Mockup (Illustrator)

Portfolio Mockup V1 (Illustrator)

This was the first round of mockups I did, back when the site used to be "jdsportfolio". I thought it was sleek at the time, but it proved to be a nuisance to edit and add artwork when there wasn't an efficient way to add entries.

Portfolio Mockup v2

Portfolio Mockup V2 (Illustrator)

This was the second mockup file that I made of my portfolio. This time, I was looking for a little more refinement and grid layout.

This entire site was made and designed by me, starting in 2024. I wanted to make it stand out amidst the millions of portfolio pages I’ve seen, (Everyone says that though). I went on a slightly unorthodox route to build it.

  • This site runs on Drupal 11 with the Solo Theme, (And some HEAVY configuration tweaks!)
  • I developed it locally, then exported it to a static set of pages and media.
  • This way, I avoided uptime costs for a database while keeping my favorite CMS framework at the center of what I do.

I love how the block and node structures work in Drupal, and I wanted a dynamic development process that I was already heavily familiar with. So, I decided to go on the Drupal route. It’s a little overkill for a portfolio, but I have enough work that makes it easier to sort this way.

I also wanted to make it less fancy because with AI, anyone can now make their HTML look sleek. The downside to AI websites is that they all look the same no matter how sleek they are; you can always tell. So, I wanted something that showed I still care about web design enough to set up this Drupal site and personally write about my work.
